Everyone knows a story about the child that was "wired to climb walls" when the red candies are eaten. I also like the story of the child that goes to a birthday party, " I'm here for the party, not the cake, candy, hot dogs, pop or the chips. If you feed me that poison, mom says you have to keep me. And you won't like me, I don't like me when I eat that stuff."
When I searched today I found number of diet books at chapters.indigo and amazon.ca specificly for Autism, ADHD, ADD, Aspergers, and Dyspraxia. With any diet, it is always about smart choices and sticking to the program for the long term (creating a new lifestyle). I have found that it makes a difference to be gluten (protein of wheat, rye and barley) free and casein (diary protein) free and chemical free.
The plan we try to follow to the best of our abilities (yes, I trip up or just ignore my own advise more than sometimes) is to avoid the processed foods, no chemicals, no pop, no additives. Take supplements, omegas, probiotics, vitamins, minerals and herbs. Drink two litres of water daily. Stay active. Eat organic where available. Find the daily balance that feels and is a stress free routine.
The popular paleo diet is also a good plan.
